Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki opposes legalization of marijuana because he lacks basic knowledge about it

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki opposes the legalization of marijuana because he lacks basic knowledge about it? That's according to the Prime Minister's statement. If the prime minister had knowledge of how it really is, would the chance of changing the law be greater? If he knew how wrong he was, and at the same time realized how powerful revenue to the budget legalization would bring would he change his mind? Possibly. The Prime Minister's statement also showed just how much he had fooled everyone with a certain parliamentary team that pledged to hemp-educate politicians in the ruling camp in the first place. Here is more information.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki opposes the legalization of marijuana because he lacks basic knowledge about it

Relatively recently, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was a guest on the "Adventures of Entrepreneurs" channel. Adrian Gorzycki, the show's host, asked the head of the council of ministers a question about the legalization of recreational marijuana. What was Mateusz Morawiecki's answer?

"I am against it. Medicinal marijuana is one thing, and the use of soft drugs for recreational purposes is something that I think creates a risk of entering this whole drug space. Someone may not get enough of a soft drug later on, they reach for a hard drug and tragedy occurs."

-Matthew Morawiecki said, and added:

"I am against drugs in all forms. I would have to be persuaded for a long time to agree to something like this, because I believe that soft drugs are also dangerous. I have seen statistics from other countries - the Netherlands and Belgium - that show that soft drugs, however, also lead to hard drugs, and I would be very concerned about that."

The presenter also asked a question about alcohol and why, therefore, strong spirits are nicely packaged and available on every corner, here is what Morawiecki answered:

"We are a free society, we are a society of responsible people, and that is why we are not going to introduce this type of restriction. Please note that in Poland and in various other countries there are restrictions on alcohol advertising, or on the possibility of selling alcohol and on the display of alcohol in various places, so that young people are less likely to reach for alcohol, so it is not a commodity available without restrictions."

Why is the prime minister so ignorant about marijuana?

The gateway drug theory - that's the name of a misguided theory spread for decades by proponents of cannabis prohibition. This extremely popular myth says that marijuana is a gateway, a prelude to reaching for so-called hard drugs.

That this is complete nonsense and there is no cause-and-effect correlation between marijuana use and reaching for other stimulants is known to almost every user of both recreational and medical marijuana. This myth has also been scientifically debunked. Not only that, studies have shown beyond any doubt that the only "gateway drug" is... alcohol.

Here one thought comes to mind: is it really the case that recreational marijuana is illegal in Poland because those in power have no basic knowledge of it? Seriously, does not our budget receive about 10 billion zlotys each year from the sale of recreational marijuana because those in power, headed by the Prime Minister, do not have basic knowledge about it? Are we seriously incarcerating and soiling thousands of young Poles for possession of marijuana because those in power, headed by the Prime Minister, have no basic knowledge about it?

That's exactly right. Marijuana is illegal in our country because there is no awareness about it.

The Parliamentary Team for the Legalization of Marijuana, established more than 2.5 years ago, pledged at its first meeting with public advisors that it would first and foremost work on educating MPs and those in power about cannabis. The team's chairwoman, MP Beata Maciejewska, admitted during that meeting that submitting the bills (which were already ready) without first educating the ruling camp's deputies - made no sense. The Prime Minister's statements, on the other hand, testify to how much Ms. Maciejewska and the entire team simply deceived the entire cannabis community by not doing anything beyond submitting bills and making a political nativity scene around it, treating the cannabis community like idiots who don't know what real politics is all about. I am sure that none of the MPs received the educational materials that Ms. Maciejewska pledged to provide to the MPs. The Prime Minister's statement about recreational marijuana is the best evidence of this.
